City County Councilor Marilyn Pfisterer News

You have not heard from me for a while---and I have been saving up some items that I hope will be of value to you--so here goes:

*You can find what your home’s assessed value by going to www.indy.gov/assessor. Your estimated tax bill can be calculated by multiplying that figure by 1.5 (which is the 1.5% tax cap passed by the Legislature.) The next tax bills are scheduled by the County Treasurer to go out in October with payments due in November. The treasurer assures me that 2010 will be back on the normal billing cycle.

* If you have not already discovered it, 10th street at White River parkway is closed to repair the Railroad. YAH!!! CSX is doing the work. It should be opened again by Sept 26th

*I have been asked by some about a self defense class. After exploring the issue I did find that there is one planned (For FREE) at Conseco Field House on Oct 14th. The doors open at 5:30 and the class is from 6PM to 8 PM.
More information about it can be found at www.anescapeplan.com. Sounds like a good way to spend time.

PLEASE SAVE THE DATES:

I am having my quarterly Town Hall meetings:

**Oct 10th at the Speedway Town Hall at 10 AM. There will be someone there to discuss and answer questions about the Wishard item on the November ballot.

** Oct 15th at the Knights of Columbus on Lynhurst (Across from the 8 Second Saloon). I will bring the CD of the Wishard info to that one and have someone from the new Office of Code Enforcement come to talk about ways to make a city a better place to live with code enforcement.

Please mark the dates on your calendar and come if you possibly can. There will be additional items there for discussion and I will have time for questions. Bring a friend or neighbor and pass the word to any one you think
might like to attend and get information.
