HENDRICKS SYMPHONIC SOCIETY

World Renowned Composer to Attend Opening Weekend of Concert!

The Hendricks Symphonic Society presents "Hymns And Anthems", the opening concert of the 2008-2009 series. The Hendricks Symphonic Choir will perform a program of choral masterworks.

One of the pieces they will be singing is "Abba Father", by well known contemporary church music composer Carey Landry. This song, simple in words but with a full and anthemic ending, is one of his most popular compositions. Landry's music can be found in many church hymnals in the English speaking world, and are among the most frequently sung in church liturgy.

The concert also highlights music from the great composers Mozart, Rossini, Moussorgsky, Haydn, Lotti, Palestrina, and Gabrieli. Popular American and Celtic folksongs with familiar melodies will also be performed.

Special guests performing at this concert will be the Plainfield High School Concert Choir under the direction of Jonelle Heaton. The Hendricks Symphonic Society believes strongly in working with the youth of the area and are excited to have this talented young group join them in concert!
