Here is what was received from Barbara Lawrence:
First, residents are encouraged to attend the Speedway Town Council meeting Monday night, January 26 at 7:00 p.m. to voice their concerns on the matter. While, as I've noted, the Council is opposed to these efforts and joins with the community, the Council meeting is an opportunity to have a public voice on the matter, which can be used to show community support to legislators.
Second, the Indiana State Senate Local Government Committee will hold a hearing on S.B. 348 on Wednesday, January 28th at 2:30 p.m. in State House Room 130 (130 is in the basement of the State House). Please make an effort to arrive as early as possible (1:45) so we can organize and better prepare.
Please remember when talking to legislators that you emphasize the positives about the Speedway Library--- accessibility, community commitment, low outstanding debt, strong leadership, service and low tax rate-when discussing your concerns about the legislation.
A year or so ago the Speedway community came together with a strong show of commitment to maintaining its independence and autonomy, and we need to once again come together for the Library.
