Despite the wind and rain, town employees and citizens lined Lynhurst Drive to pay their respects to Speedway Police Sgt Alan Jones as his funeral procession passed the police station on the way to his burial service. Jones, 40, died suddenly Sunday afternoon.

The long line of public safety and civilian vehicles took over 10 minutes to pass by the station, having first driven by Wayne Township Fire Station 885 on Crawfordsville Road. Jones served as a Wayne Township firefighter prior to joining the police department.

Jones' police car was parked in the station's driveway with a large wreath on a black draped windshield. The procession stopped in front of the station while police dispatcher Bob Hawkins read this brief eulogy over the air.
