Allison Receives Drainage Relief
(posted 6.6.09)
The Department of Public Works repaved one lane of 10th Street between
Speedway Industrial Park and Main Street to help provide drainage relief
for Allison Transmission's parking lot on the north side of the street.
"Allison brought this problem of the standing water to our attention
and we agreed that it was an issue. We milled and resurfaced one lane of
10th Street near Allison Transmission to correct a drainage problem near
their employee parking lot. The project adjusted existing drainage structures,
along with the concrete curb/sidewalk and asphalt pavement to promote positive
drainage," DPW Public Information Officer Kit Werbe said.
The estimated cost is $59,538.70. "We won't know the final amount
for some time," she said.
Speedway's redevelopment plans call for this section of 10th Street to
be closed in order to allow Allison employees direct access to the plant.
10th Street will be rerouted to the north side of the lot from Holt Road
to just east of Main Street.
