Town Opens Street Repair Bids

The Town of Speedway received 10 bids for its 2009 street resurfacing projects on July 23. The projects include the frontage road between Gerrard Ave and Lynhurst Dr; Gerrard Ave between 20th St and Crawfordsville Rd; Allison Ave between 20th St and Crawfordsville Rd; McCray St from Georgetown Rd to Auburn St; Beeler Dr from 16th St to Speedway Dr; Philwood Drive: 18th St from Cunningham Rd to Whitcomb Ave; Maplewood Dr to Philwood Dr; and Cadillac Dr from Cunningham Rd to Lincoln Rd.

The bids amounts were:

The 2009 sidewalk replacement project is Beeler Street from 16th Street to Speedway Drive.

The sidewalk bids were as follows:

Hunt Paving Company Inc--- $119,870.50
Smock Fansler Corporation -- $117,672
Artistic Concrete Construction -- $88,000

Street Commissioner Wendell Walters reported at the infrastructure advisory council meeting that $202,000 has been allocated for sidewalks and $211,000 for streets. The street and sidewalk bids are expected to be awarded at the July 27 town council meeting.
