Water Still Running at Coppertree

(updated 7.10.09)

(Editor's note: The following statement was provided by Town Manager Barbara Lawrence in resonse to the article posted on July 9)

"First, the amount that Coppertree now owes is substantially below the $200,000 - we have received two payments from them; the first was in mid-May for about $45,000, and a second payment of about $67,000 in mid/late June. These payments came as part of a payment plan to collect the outstanding balance. We pursued the potential disconnection when the owner failed to make a payment that was due on the arrears. That payment was subsequently received."

"Karam Properties had a monthly service payment due, and they requested an extension on that payment until on July 20, when their next payment for arrear amounts is due."

"The current total that is owed is about $100,000, which we are continuing to collect through a payment plan."
