Institute for Justice Director of Activism and Coalitions Christina Walsh made her second visit to Speedway in an effort to help SPEED (Speedway People Encouraging Equal Development ) property owners fight to retain their properties.

Walsh carried out her mission at Speedway Monogramming, educating race fans walking by on Carb Day about the importance of property rights. Store owners Jim and Susan Luebbert intend on fighting to keep their property because of its one of kind location directly across the street from main tunnel into the IMS.

Once Evan Storm of Indianapolis heard about the Speedway Redevelopment Commission's plans to reroute Dry Run Ditch through Luebbert's property, he signed the petition in hopes of preserving the historical heritage of the area. Plans call for realigning the ditch to an east-west direction, so Polco Street can be realigned to have straight access to the IMS tunnel.

"They can't be doing this. This is history here.... Tony Hulman is turning over in his grave," Storm said.

Phil Sever, an attorney who specializes in eminent domain, signed the petition. Sever has been assisting property owners with the fight against the Rockies Express Pipeline (REX).

"The arrogance of the state and utilities is unbelievable," he said.
