DPW Approves Roundabout Concept

Despite assurances to the Speedway Town Council that the 16th and Main Street roundabout has been approved, the Department of Public Works has not given it's final blessing to the project.

Speedway Redevelopment Commission Executive Director Scott Harris told the council at its February 9 meeting that "We have received engineering approval for the roundabout design. The right-of-way engineering has been completed on that set of parcels this week."

On February 11 DPW spokesperson Kit Werbe stated “both the realignment and the roundabout have not been officially approved. The concept has been approved for both the realignment and for the roundabout. But, the final design plans have not been approved. That's why I have to say that at this time, neither item has been approved.”
