Speedway's well #2 is back in service. The well was taken out of service in June 2008 because the well house had settled, creating voids around the well casing.

Speedway Water Superintendent Steve Hurst told the town council at its Feb 9said the voids were filled in and the building was "jacked backed into place." The well was placed into service on Feb 6.

The well is the oldest and the largest producer at 1 million gallons a day. The well has been in service since 1935.

The Speedway Town Council approved Hurst's promotion and pay increase to Superintendent. Hurst has been the acting superintendent since the fall of 2007.
