The Wayne Township Trustee's office provides emergency assistance for families and individuals who live in Wayne Township and meet the eligibility requirements.

Clients are seen Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3pm.

Raikes Concurs with School Board Appointment

Speedway Town Council President Gary Raikes concurred at the July 28 meeting with the school board's appointment of Dr. Terry Reed to serve as a non-voting adviser to the redevelopment commission.
The Speedway Navigator questioned Dr. Reed’s appointment at July 21 redevelopment meeting after commission President Vince Noblet announced the School Board’s decision.

Clermont Council Approves New Tax Rate

Although no one raised a hand as a sign to end fire protection service in Clermont, approximately 50 residents filled the room to oppose the firefighting building and equipment fund tax rate that may be needed to help fund Wayne Township's fire contract. Resident Linda Lucas rallied a crowd by distributing fliers around town to come to the July 24 meeting.

State Lacking in Renewable Energy Incentives

Indiana Renewable Energy Association Executive Director Laura Arnold says the state's renewable energy policies are "in the subbasement" when compared with the rest of the country.
Her biggest complaint against the current administration is its focus on E-85 and ethanol. She said it is not a good, balanced approach. She said monetary resources and incentives should be equally distributed for all renewable energies.

Extending Holt Road Low on DPW's List

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works has no official position pertaining to the proposed extension of Holt Road through Credit Union One. Kit Werbe of DPW said the department was unaware that the extension would eliminate Credit Union One at 4027 W. 10th Street. The department is only aware of the 40 feet south of the roundabout.

16th StreetScape Designs Taking Shape

Within its next three meetings, the 16th Streetscape Committee should have their recommendations for the new look for 16th Street. The July 22 meeting gave the streetscape members a chance to look at different architectural styles and a chance to discuss their initial preferences for the future road.

Redevelopment Commission Adds New Member

The Speedway Redevelopment Commission added a sixth member at its July 21st meeting to serve as a non-voting advisor as required by the recently passed House Enrolled Act 1001. School Board member Terry Reed was appointed to the position by the School Board. Reed will be able to attend all commission meetings but will not be paid or receive expenses.
