Walters Leaving WSCA(posted Sept 22) Tim Walters will be leaving Speedway's cable TV station after eight years on the job. Walters submitted his resignation letter to the Cable TV Advisory Commission at its monthly meeting September 19. Walters began working for WSCA part time and changed to it's only full time employee two years ago. Commission members thanked Walters for his contributions to the station and the improvements to the quality of programs he has produced for WSCA. Commission President Steve Arisman advised the committee that AT+T is in the process of installing equipment that will allow Uverse customers in Speedway the ability to view WSCA. Currently only Comcast customers can receive Speedway's cable channel. The commission voted to drop the channel 28 designation from the current WSCA logo. The change was in response to AT+T's indication that WSCA will be on channel 99 on their lineup, along with government access from other communities. WSCA will need to add new equipment to send it's signal to AT+T to avoid sending the music supplied by Comcast to AT+T customers. Arisman also told the commission that the town council has approved his request for a part time position starting next year and addition funds to purchase new equipment. Much of WSCA's equipment was supplied by Comcast when they were the sole distributor of WSCA's signal, the town will not have that courtesy any more. Comcast had also provided repair work at no cost, due to the age of equipment and the advances in broadcasting technology it will no longer be economical to repair some items as they fail. |
