CDC Looks At Parade Committee For Fund Raising(posted Sept 20) The Speedway Community Development Corporation entertained the idea of the Speedway Parade Committee being placed under the CDC's wing to perform fund raising projects that would benefit town. CDC member Tom Fansler requested that Linda Karn, Susan Luebbert and Julia Pratt submit a memorandum of understanding to the CDC to see if their promotional activities are aligned with the CD's mission statement of "encouraging its local citizens to become involved in the community through various volunteer activities." Vice-President James Dillard noted that a promotional fund raising citizen group is something they have been looking for. The women informed the members that they would probably change the committee's name to something similar to the Speedway Promotional Group so it could provide community events other than just a parade. The women plan to return to the October 17 meeting to submit a MOU. In other matters, the CDC members adopted the new logo that will be seen on letterheads. Jason Delisle explained that the CDC will continue to operate with four members until the new town manager is hired. The articles of Incorporation require the town manager serve on the CDC board. |
