IDEM and Zore's Working On Agreed Order(posted Oct 2) The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is currently working with Zore's Reclamation Service, located at 1300 N. Mickley Road, to develop an agreed order concerning January 19 and May 3 investigations. Amy Hartsock, IDEM public information officer, said the investigation spawned from IDEM's statewide initiative for all salvation yards to develop management practices pertaining to crushing cars to ensure fluids do not leak out into the ground. It also requires a storm water management system to prevent contaminants from entering streams and labeling containers properly. The IDEM's investigation lead to citing the company with 12 violations that included deposit of contaminants, automotive fluids or sold waste in open dumps on site. Hartsock explained once the agreed order has been reached it becomes a legal binding enforceable document. Zore's is located on the east side of Eagle Creek just north of the Speedway Water Works plant, one of the sources of the town's drinking water. |
