Pizza Hut Still Committed To Plan(posted Sept 25) Even with repetitive delays, LaRaza Pizza Inc has not abandoned its plans to convert the former Burger King site into a Pizza Hut. At the September 24 council meeting, councilman Jeff Hartman announced the company indicated that once the pending permitting process is completed in approximately three weeks, a new structure should be finished within 10 to 12 weeks. Since March, LaRaza Pizza Inc has indicated its intentions to remodel the form Burger King site into a Pizza Hut. At that time, the company's initial intention was to open in May to capture the race fans, but issues developed that delayed the target date. The building still remains boarded up and in the community's opinion an eyesore. Speedway Code Enforcer Jereme Howery reported at the last council meeting that landscaping activity would begin September 22. He explained the company informed him the reason for the delay was due to the discovery that the building rests on top of a wellfield protection area, and the issue needed to be resolved before construction could begin. |
