IPL Examines Transmission Line Relocation Along Georgetown Road

(posted Aug 31)

The Speedway Redevelopment Commission (SRC) is not wasting any time since their August 20 meeting that discussed the urgency of moving IPL utility poles along Georgetown Road.
According to IPL Public Relations Officer Crystal Livers-Powers, IPL is currently reviewing the plans submitted by the SRC. "It will take us a couple of weeks to complete the evaluation and prepare a plan for the Commission to review. After that step is completed, we will submit a plan and a cost estimated for the work." The SRC then can revise or approve of the plan.

The reason for the move cited by SRC President Scott Harris is safety. The high power transmission lines could fall on the stands and electrocute thousands of spectators.
