PTFD Hosts 7th Annual Safety Festival(posted Aug 21) Pike Township Fire Department (PTFD) will host its 7th annual safety festival at INTECH Park on October 6. The festivities run from 11 am to 3 pm. Susie Morgan, PTFD executive assistant, said the program is free, including entry to the car classic and antique fire truck show. "There is no charge for anything," she said. The event is financed by corporate donations and avoids using taxpayers' dollars to provide this educational program that teaches preventative injury practices ranging from infant care to seniors. Disaster preparedness is part of the focus of the safety festival this year. Morgan said there will be approximately 30 to 40 educators ranging from utility companies to law enforcement agencies. Morgan said the festival draws about 2,000 to 3,000 people. She noted that a free lunch is available along with a live band to provide entertainment. Fire Chief Gerald George also noted that health screening services will be available. The rain date is October 7. |
