Santa Claus made an early season appearance at Main Street Attraction Antique Mall November 17 to add to the festive occasion of the Christmas Open House.
"This is my first gig," said local Speedway resident Greg Ramsey
as he played Santa in the unseasonably mild weather conditions. Ramsey
said his wife drafted him into playing Santa. Although he likes to play
Santa, he is still not sure if he wants this to be a job of multiple gigs
per week. "The suit is awfully hot," he said.
Santa was not the only activity happening on Main Street. Nathan Thompson
is the owner of a new business at 1430 Main Street, PC Lounge . Although
he is open for computer service and repair, Thompson is still placing the
finishing touches on the interior appearance to offer wireless connections
in a bistro lounge setting. The bistro will offer a cold food menu. He
expects to receive his board of health permit by December that will pave
the way for his wife Chris to run the bistro.
Location is the reason Thompson opened a business on Main Street. He said
he is not very familiar with the redevelopment effort other than hearing
that facade improvements will happen to the buildings and condos will be
stacked on top. He is looking forward to becoming part of Speedway's activities
and getting to know other Main Street merchants.
The Speedway Redevelopment Commission's claims show that appraisals were conducted on 1430-1434 Main Street.
