2007 was an ambitious year for retail growth for Goodwill Stores of Central Indiana.

Cindy Graham of the marketing department explained eight stores were either opened or relocated. The most recent store that opened was in Carmel, making that two for the city. The 2007 store openings should wrap up within the next two weeks at Kokomo.

Graham said indications show that 2008 should be just as busy with store openings or relocations. By the first quarter of 2008, the store at 4004 Georgetown Road will move to a higher growth area along the Lafayette Road corridor in the Pike Plaza shopping center. The store is occupying the vacant building of the former Lazy Boy store. She noted the proposed location has more space to serve customers than the current confined location. The current location will close when the new store opens. The future Goodwill store will be just a few blocks away from the Wal-Mart Super Center.
