The Metropolitan School District of Pike Township and the YMCA are excited to announce that Pike Township School officials have accepted a bid from the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to lease land from the school district. As a part of the lease, the YMCA has agreed to build a new facility to serve the Pike Township community and develop both youth and adult programs. The 20 acres of land is located south of Snacks Crossing Elementary School, between Moller Road and North Monica Drive. Both parties expect to finalize the deal before the end of the year.

The Pike YMCA Site Development Task Force Chair Dale Stackhouse led an aggressive search and selection process. Other committee members included Aasif Bade and Tom Ferri.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to work with the Pike Township School system on this project,” said Angie Lassley, Executive Director, Pike Branch YMCA. “We have enjoyed a very good working relationship and look forward to working together to develop and offer a wide range of programs and services for the children and families in Pike Township and the surrounding communities. The partnership will allow both parties to look at ways of making an even more positive impact in our community,” added Lassley.

Currently, the YMCA offers programs in Pike Township through an Express YMCA facility at 7114 Lakeview Parkway West Drive and school facilities.

“We promised the Westside community that we would build a new facility in Pike Township after the closing of our Fall Creek Branch,” said Eric Ellsworth, President/CEO, YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. “This agreement with the school district is bringing us one step closer to honoring our word and will provide us with an opportunity to meet the current and future needs of the Pike Township Community. We will need a tremendous amount of support from the community to make this YMCA facility a reality.”
